The Lake District . . .
'The loveliest spot that man hath ever found...' - William
Wordsworth
The Mount is situated in the village of Portinscale which is approximately one mile west of the market town of Keswick and only a short 20 minute easy walk into Keswick.
Directions by Car:
From Junction 40 of the M6 motorway, take the A66 to
Keswick (16 miles). Travel for approx. 14 miles until you
come to a roundabout sign posted Keswick to the left. Do
not turn left, continue straight
over this roundabout and take the second turning on the left
signed for Portinscale. The Mount is 250 yards on the left
after the Farmers Arms pub.
Public Transport:
Virgin trains call at Penrith (16miles east of Portinscale) and a full bus service to Keswick operates from here. From Keswick you can catch a local bus direct to Portinscale, which will drop you off opposite The Mount.
Under your own steam:
We are delighted to welcome people who arrive by foot over
the hills with a hot cup of tea or coffee and the chance of
a hot bath or shower to soothe those tired limbs!
