The Mount is an Edwardian house situated in the beautiful Lakeland village of Portinscale. Overlooking Lake Derwentwater, it is the ideal location for water and mountain based activities, or simply for admiring the stunning scenery of the Newlands valley. At the rear of the property stands the magnificent Skiddaw, offering walks with splendid view points while to the front there are excellent views of the fells and valleys beyond.

Every effort is made possible to ensure that your stay at The Mount is a memorable one. The atmosphere here is one of relaxation, comfort and the feeling of being pampered.

Whenever you visit us, either during the spring or summer when the sun is high and the beauty of the Lakes can be seen to their full potential, or during autumn and winter when you'll be welcomed by a roaring log fire before you decide to experience the changing landscape with all it's many colours, you can be assured that after a full day you will look forward to coming home to a warm welcome at The Mount.

To make your stay at The Mount, short or long, purely pleasurable and relaxing, you will find attentive, but friendly service at all times.
We want you to enjoy your stay with us and we would be delighted if you returned to see us at a later date. We always try and cater for each guest's individual needs. Please tell us if you have any special requirements, whether it's a treat for that special person by arrangement, or simply a drink waiting in the lounge for you on your return from a busy day in the Lakes - and we will do our best to have it all ready for you.

We serve a full English Breakfast, (with vegetarian option if preferred), to help you start the day. Wherever possible, all our produce is locally sourced from farms within the area.
Packed lunches can be ordered the day before and if you require anything specific in there, let us know in advance and we pack it in!
For that infrequent rainy day, we also provide drying facilities for our guests and a secure lock up for bicycles.
Private off road parking is available at the rear of the house.

We also welcome well-behaved dogs to The Mount by prior arrangement. Just let us know when you make your booking.

The Mount is totally non-smoking and has 5 individually designed bedrooms all with ensuite or private facilities. Rooms to the front of the house have splendid views of the Lake whilst those at the rear overlook the grand vista of Skiddaw.
